PlayMetronome is a free collection of browser-based music practice tools. No download, no account, no subscription. Open a page, use the tool, close it. That's the whole idea.
The core belief behind the site is that practice tools should be invisible — they should do exactly what they say, without friction or distraction. A metronome that pops up cookie banners or forces you to create an account is a metronome that gets in the way of practice.
The online metronome uses the Web Audio API's lookahead scheduler rather than setInterval — this gives sub-millisecond timing accuracy even after 30+ minutes. The chromatic tuner processes your microphone in the browser using autocorrelation pitch detection; your audio never leaves your device. The ear training tools generate sounds locally using the Web Audio oscillator. The chord chart synthesizes chord audio using triangle wave oscillators.
No personal data is collected. Microphone access is requested only by the tuner pages and is never recorded or transmitted. The site uses Google AdSense for non-intrusive advertising and Google Analytics for anonymous usage statistics. See the full privacy policy.
